Al Aguirre has broad experience acquired through senior principal and advisory positions on Wall Street, as well as senior executive operating roles in public and private companies. Aguirre served in principal investing, capital markets, and advisory roles as a managing director at Warburg Pincus, an investment banker at Morgan Stanley and a securities attorney at Sullivan & Cromwell.
Aguirre has also served in senior management roles at several media and technology businesses where he was instrumental in shaping strategy, driving growth, and achieving successful financings and exits.
In addition to serving as Chairman of the Board and member of the Compensation Committee for Select, Aguirre also serves as Director and member of the Compensation Committee and Governance Committee of Central Pacific Financial Corp. (NYSE:CPF). CPF, the holding company for Central Pacific Bank, is a publicly traded commercial bank with financial sponsorship led by Anchorage and The Carlyle Group.
Aguirre is also Chairman of the Board and member of the Audit and Compensation Committees of Cygnus Business Media, a business-to-business publishing company owned by Goldman Sachs, GE Capital, and other financial sponsors. Aguirre also serves as Lead Director of Advanstar Communications Inc., a leading B2B events, online and publishing platform serving the fashion, life sciences, and motor sports industries. Advanstar is owned by Anchorage, Ares Management, Veronis Suhler Stevenson, and other financial sponsors.
Aguirre has also served in various not for profit capacities, including, currently, as a Director of Father Joe’s Village in San Diego, and has also served as Chairman of the Town of Tiburon Planning Commission. He resides in Rancho Santa Fe, California.
