ResourceMFG is working with a local metal shop searching for an experienced CNC programmer and machinist located in Almont MI
This is a Temp to Hire opportunity
6am-4:30pm
Wage based on experience: $22-26
Job Summary:
The CNC Machinist position is responsible for operating various CNC machines to fabricate and manufacture parts.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operates Fadal and Haas CNC Machines.
- Ability to operate and set up Bridgeport Machines.
- Calculates dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments.
- Ability to read calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, protractor, and other various pieces of inspection equipment.
- Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.
- Reads and interprets blueprints and design sketches in both Metric and US measuring systems to ensure proper dimensions and specifications for parts.
- Operates various types of machine tools to perform progressive machining.
- Converts metric and standard dimensions.
- Measures, examines and tests completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications; adjusts machine controls to resolve production errors.
- Detects malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls, as necessary.
- Checks parts to ensure they are meeting the company’s standards before moving to the next department.
- Understands tolerancing and how to hold different tolerances.
- Inspects machinery for any needed repairs; perform minor repairs within expertise.
- Maintains cleanliness and safety of work area.
- Follows company, state, and federal safety regulations. This includes wearing proper protective equipment and keeping work area clean and well-organized.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to pay attention to detail and ensure job is done to the highest quality.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Knowledge of tooling and software to run machine.
- Ability to operate various types of machine tools to perform machining tasks.
- Sheet metal and/or steel fabrication experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Work with hands, lifting and moving large pieces of metal, standing for hours at a time.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong analytical skills to monitor work processes, inspect various types of metal, read and interpret blueprints that contain precise measurements, and to make calculations necessary to cut metal to match specific designs.
- Excellent communication skills to work in a collaborative environment with other team members.
- Strong measuring skills working with multiple measuring tools to make precise measurements using metric and US measuring systems.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and ability to look ahead to upcoming jobs while running current job.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred minimum of 2-year related experience.
Vocational or technical school training and apprenticeship preferred.
Lathe experience preferred.
