Job Description

What We’re Looking For:

Toyota Indiana is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Toyota Experience Center Ambassador to advance the mission of Toyota’s Experience Center and manufacturing facility by conducting guided tours of the Toyota plant for visitors of all ages.

 Utilizing the techniques of dialogue, inquiry and storytelling, the primary responsibility of this role will be to educate visitors about Toyota’s core values, employment opportunities, community initiatives and the company’s vision for the future of mobility.

 In this role, Ambassadors will be required to narrate scripted tours and safely drive electric trams in a high-paced manufacturing environment. Candidates must be energetic, enthusiastic, cheerful and willing to learn. Successful employees will have an interest in working with people—especially students—and be willing to become actively involved in the programs of the Experience Center.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Schedule tour reservations via phone and online registration system
  • Support public tours by driving an electric tram and narrating up to three to four tours daily, four to five days a week—some evenings and/or Saturdays with advanced notice
  • Complete required safety training to drive and work in plant areas—renew training annually
  • Aid in the loading and unloading tour guests
  • Prepare and clean PPE (personal protective equipment) after each tour
  • Give presentations in front of large, diverse groups of people
  • Prepare, update and fact-check tour materials
  • Perform phone and email outreach to cultivate and expand tour guest base
  • Record and report any unusual incidents or violation of safety guidelines

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • Must be 18 years old with a high school diploma
  • Computer experience with emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to speak in front of groups of people
  • Ability to work with all levels within the organization including executives and VIP guests

 

Added Bonus if You Have:

  • Experience in education or in customer service
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing or previous experience as a tour guide
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

Required Training/Testing:

  • Driving Assignment – Must be able to meet requirements to drive vehicle on assignment. Successful candidates will complete driver certification and safety training courses before driving a tram.
  • Eye Exam/Hearing Test – Must be able to pass an eye exam and hearing test check before obtaining tram driving clearance. If needed Toyota will provide OSHA approved prescription glasses. Toyota will not provide hearing aids if required.
  • Workplace Training – Must complete onboarding training and annual training as required/assigned by employer and/or client at will.
