Job Title: R&D Technician III – Systems Test Tools & Lab Support
Location: Onsite – Arden Hills, MN Shift: Business Hours, 1st Shift (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM) Pay Rate: $38.00 - $47.00/Hour Based On Experience Duration: 12-month contract
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced R&D Technician III – Systems Test Tools & Lab Support to support engineering teams in the development and validation of advanced medical systems. This role is critical to ensuring the availability, reliability, and performance of testing tools, software, and lab infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, technically skilled, and comfortable working hands-on in a fast-paced, regulated lab environment.
Key Responsibilities
Tool Availability & Maintenance
- Ensure all Systems Evaluation Lab testing tools and equipment are fully operational and available to support engineering activities
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware and software tools
- Maintain accurate inventory, calibration, and maintenance records for lab equipment
Software Tools Management
- Install, configure, and maintain software tools used for system-level testing
- Monitor tool performance and apply patches, updates, or upgrades as needed
- Collaborate with engineering and development teams to integrate new testing tools, utilities, and frameworks
Testing Support
- Assist engineers with execution of test plans and system-level verification and validation activities
- Prepare and configure test environments to ensure proper setup and readiness
- Document test results and report issues or anomalies in a timely manner
Process & Compliance
- Follow established procedures for tool maintenance, testing activities, and lab operations
- Ensure compliance with internal quality systems and applicable regulatory requirements
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to lab efficiency, reliability, and tool management
Required Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Engineering Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience supporting engineering labs, maintaining test tools and equipment, or assisting with system-level testing
- Working knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting, including:
- Windows-based systems
- Mobile platforms (Android and iOS)
- Proficiency with Python scripting for basic automation, data handling, or tool support
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail, including accurate documentation and asset tracking
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in medical device or other regulated environments
- Familiarity with automated test tools and additional scripting languages
- Understanding of design controls and traceability requirements
- Hands-on experience with lab instrumentation and calibration processes
Work Mode
- Fully onsite role with primary responsibilities in the Systems Evaluation and Testing Lab
