Pay: $19-23hr based on experience 

Work Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, on-site 8:00am to 4:00pm but can be slightly flexible

Product Development Lab Technician

Position Summary
The Product Development Lab Technician supports the Product Development team in the formulation, testing, documentation, and scale-up of dietary supplement and functional food products in a cGMP-compliant environment. This hands-on role performs laboratory and pilot-scale activities including formulation support, equipment operation, data collection, and process documentation while maintaining strict adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

This position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with strong technical aptitude who can accurately follow procedures, support innovation, and collaborate cross-functionally to meet project timelines.


Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Perform bench-top formulation and sample preparation activities, including weighing, blending, mixing, and executing formulation trials and reformulations under Product Development guidance.

  • Operate laboratory and pilot-scale equipment; support scale-up and pilot runs by staging materials, documenting process parameters, and assisting with knowledge transfer to Operations.

  • Collect, record, and maintain accurate technical data related to formulation performance, yields, and processing observations using approved documentation systems.

  • Complete batch records, formulation worksheets, lab notebooks, stability documentation, and technical logs with accuracy, version control, and data integrity.

  • Ensure proper labeling, identification, and traceability of ingredients, intermediates, and samples in compliance with cGMP requirements.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready laboratory and pilot area; perform routine cleaning, sanitization, and equipment setup per SOPs.

  • Verify equipment readiness and report maintenance, calibration, or operational issues as needed.

  • Adhere to all applicable cGMP regulations (21 CFR 111 and/or 117), SOPs, safety procedures, PPE, chemical hygiene, and allergen-handling requirements.

  • Support investigations, deviations, CAPA activities, internal audits, and regulatory inspections as assigned.

  • Monitor laboratory inventory and supplies and communicate shortages to leadership.

  • Work efficiently to meet project timelines and contribute to continuous improvement of lab workflows, documentation, and technical practices.

  • Collaborate with Product Development, Quality, Regulatory, and Operations teams; communicate technical findings clearly and professionally.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, see, hear, and speak for extended periods.

  • Ability to read and accurately follow written instructions.

  • Exposure to major and minor allergens, including but not limited to peanuts.

  • Exposure to temperature variations, open dock doors, dirt, dust, fumes, and chemicals.

  • Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels.

  • Required use of PPE, including lab coats, gloves, hairnets, and safety glasses.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended period


Education & Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Nutrition, or a related field preferred.

  • 1–3 years of experience in a technical lab, manufacturing, food, or dietary supplement environment preferred.

  • Working knowledge of cGMP principles and controlled documentation practices.

  • Comfortable operating lab and pilot-scale equipment and handling powdered ingredients.

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and data accuracy.
