Job Description

About the Role

The Technician supports the manufacturing, inspection, and processing of high‑precision optical components. Technicians run production orders, collaborate with engineering, support process development, and contribute to continuous improvement. This role requires strong attention to detail, consistency, teamwork, and the ability to work independently when needed.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high‑precision optical metrology, including interferometry and optical part characterization
  • Clean, handle, assemble, and package optical and opto‑electronic components
  • Conduct optical contacting processes
  • Perform visual and microscope‑based inspection of optical components
  • Load, unload, and manipulate fragile optical parts and assemblies using appropriate tooling and fixtures
  • Maintain inventory of cleanroom, manufacturing, and chemical supplies
  • Maintain cleanroom and fabrication areas according to procedural and cleanliness standards
  • Read, understand, and follow written manufacturing procedures
  • Support documentation and development of manufacturing processes and procedures
  • Participate in continuous improvement and process‑development activities
  • Transact production work orders through the ERP system
  • Follow all safety training, PPE requirements, and operational guidelines
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor
  • Operate and maintain grinding, lapping, polishing, and CNC fabrication equipment (if applicable)
  • Clean components before and after coating or during processing using manual and spin‑cleaning methods (if applicable)
  • Inspect glass and crystal components using MIL specifications (if applicable)
  • Prepare parts for shipment (if applicable)
  • Operate, load, unload, and maintain vacuum coating equipment for thin‑film processes (if applicable)
  • Calculate coating parameters based on historical data (if applicable)
  • Perform and analyze spectrophotometer scans (if applicable)
  • Troubleshoot vacuum systems (if applicable)

Education & Experience

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience with optical components is a plus
  • Familiarity with cleanroom and ESD‑safe environments is preferred
  • Familiarity with microscope inspection techniques is preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks requiring consistent mental and visual focus
  • Strong hand–eye coordination for handling delicate components
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications including Word, Excel, and email
  • Strong work ethic and desire to learn new skills
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work within a team environment

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

  • Regular use of a computer, keyboard, and digital tools
  • Frequent sitting, bending, reaching, and fine‑motor work while using microscopes and inspection equipment
  • Ability to manipulate and position fragile optical components and assemblies
  • Ability to grasp, turn, adjust, and handle small instruments and tools
  • Repetitive wrist and forearm movements during inspection and microscope operation
  • Ability to bend at the neck for extended periods during inspection tasks
  • Operation of testing and measuring equipment requiring applied force to adjust knobs, cranks, and calibration mechanisms
  • Exposure to minimal fumes from alcohol and acetone used in cleaning
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently, and 10 lbs continuously (Medium Work)
  • Ability to gown up and work in cleanroom environments as required
  • Strict adherence to safety procedures and PPE requirements

You can view your paystub through www.cardholder.comdata.com, through the Employbridge mobile app, or by signing up to automatically receive your paystub summary information by email or text message each pay day.
