Job Description

Machinist II / CNC Operator

 Schedule: Monday – Friday, 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Machinist II to set up and operate CNC machining equipment to produce high-quality parts. This role involves following detailed work instructions, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining productivity standards. The Machinist II will also support and guide Molding Helpers to maximize efficiency and ensure compliance with job requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and machine parts using fixtures and CNC machining centers based on written instructions
  • Operate previously set-up jobs and run various equipment within the tool manufacturing and maintenance area
  • Ensure accuracy, quality, and completeness of all work performed at assigned work cell
  • Collaborate with and direct Molding Helpers to improve workflow and throughput
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
  • Monitor production processes and make adjustments as needed to meet specifications
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Previous experience as a machinist or CNC operator required
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and setup procedures
  • Ability to read and follow written work instructions and technical documentation
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Skills & Proficiency Evaluation

Operators are evaluated every six months using a skills matrix across key competencies:

  • Level 1: Learning foundational skills; able to assist others
  • Level 2: Fully trained; able to run simple jobs independently
  • Level 3: Able to run most jobs and train others
  • Level 4: Able to run all jobs and train others
  • Level 5: Capable of process development for new jobs and leading others
